Who we are

Slova ("we", "us", "our") is a Russian vocabulary training application available at slova.be. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use Slova.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the service:

• Account information - your email address and display name when you sign up.
• Learning data - the words you add, your exercise results, review schedules, and progress statistics. This is the core of what makes Slova work for you.
• Usage analytics - anonymous page views and performance metrics via Vercel Analytics. No personal identifiers are attached.

We do not collect payment information directly. If we introduce paid features, payments will be processed by a third-party provider (e.g., Stripe), and we will never see or store your card details.

How we use your data

• To provide and improve the Slova vocabulary trainer.
• To personalize your learning experience (spaced repetition scheduling, exercise difficulty).
• To send you service-related emails (password resets, critical updates). We will never send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
• To understand how the product is used in aggregate (which features are popular, where users get stuck).

AI-generated content

Slova uses Google's Gemini API to generate exercise sentences, conjugation tables, and declension data. When generating exercises for your words, the word and its English translation are sent to the Gemini API. No personal information (your name, email, or learning history) is ever included in these requests.

Generated exercises are cached on our servers so the same word doesn't need to be regenerated for other users.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers hosted by Railway (railway.app) in secure, encrypted databases. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and regular backups.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Railway - application and database hosting.
• Vercel - website hosting and anonymous analytics.
• Google Gemini API - AI-powered exercise generation.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

Cookies

Slova uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Vercel Analytics uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data - see what we store about you.
• Export your word lists and learning progress.
• Delete your account and all associated data.
• Correct inaccurate information.

Children's privacy

Slova is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
